Starting my professional accounting career at General Electric Company (US) in 1992, I spent what I consider to be a highly rewarding 19-year apprenticeship performing roles over the full range of finance disciplines.

I left the business in 2011 with two key takeaways:

• That indeed the financials only tell a small part of the story. In order to be an effective finance professional it is critical to fully understand all part of the business – particularly its operations. To bring the numbers alive the numbers must have a story, and to have a story, the business must be understood.
• “Making things better” is what turned my ´job´ into a ´passion´. My curiosity would lead me into dark rooms where I would find root-causes for issues and go ahead and fix them.

I developed at GE from a junior entry-level trainee accountant to a fully qualified professional with a wide range of practical experience capable of taking on anything, and left only to take on larger challenges with smaller businesses.

Today, my mission in life is to seek out chaos in businesses, help them to create order, and make a lasting difference.

My core areas of expertise are providing strong leadership at CFO level, implementing process improvement programmes, installation of finance ERP systems, providing M&A advice, and resolving audit issues.

All delivered in line with my core values of Integrity, Excellence, Passion and Confidentiality.
